You can be anything you want to be. Teachers often say that to children referring to vocation, but I say it in reference to character. Sure, you can be crotchety and rude. Maybe you’re used to being an asshole just because. Or maybe you’re sick of always being “nice” and saying yes. You don’t have to pick up that old baton and carry it with you again today. What would you rather be? Helpful? Supportive? Friendly? Daring? Honest? Authentic? Great. Be that. Do that. It’s your character, and you are the character. So play with it. At any given point you can be something else. Change it up as often or as little as you like.
Truly, you can be anything you want to be. It’s not just a schoolroom lesson, it’s a life lesson. So tell me, what do you want to be?
