Human Highlights: Poop Water, Dog Kisses, & Blurry Happiness

Human Highlights is a Sunday tradition at Commode To Joy. It is a friendly reminder to forgive your human moments, to celebrate the highlights, and to enjoy life’s little lovelies in the interim.

Human Moment: In a grocery store bathroom. A particularly filthy one. Changing a dirty diaper. I’m the conscientious type who empties the contents of a diaper, when possible, into the toilet and flushes it down – no sense in subjecting other people to diaper stank wafting from the trashcan.

I stood over the toilet, opened the diaper, and Plop!

“Oh Come On That’s Disgusting!!!!!” I hollered.

“What Mommy? What happened?”

Poop water, from a nasty grocery store toilet, splashed me…

IN THE FACE.

Highlight: My brother has two dogs, Harley and Baron. Harley is one of Miller’s biggest fans, but the feelings aren’t mutual. Harley has bug eyes, a foo man choo, and a tendency to stalk Miller from a creepy distance. His sniffs historically send Miller screaming, “Mommy, hold me! Hold me! Hold me!” – until this week.

For a good ten minutes Miller sat on my lap as Harley streaked through the room stealing kisses and dashing away again. It was an experience of pure joy, expressed through giggle fits and belly laughs. By far the highlight of my week, and also, one of my highlights with Miller so far. Good ole Harley Dog.
