Human Highlights: Airports, Movies, & Snuggles

Human Highlights is a Sunday tradition at Commode To Joy. It’s a friendly reminder to forgive your human moments, celebrate the highlights, and enjoy life’s little lovelies in the interim.

Human Moment: Airports. Nothing gets me from zero to anxiety faster than navigating airports. Doesn’t matter if we get there with plenty of time to spare. Doesn’t matter if it’s adults only or a family trip. The lines, the hustle, the people. The protocols, the hurry up and wait, the people. Ticketing, security, the people! Good God somebody get me a tranquilizer. Stat! And then back away slowly. Very slowly.

Highlight: Mark and I went to a CinéBistro for dinner and a showing of Beauty and the Beast Friday night. Cool experience, decent food, and our (I mean our) favorite Disney on the big screen.

Familiar songs danced along with new backstories. Remade scenes evoked the same emotions from me as they did when I was little, while changes to some of the characters had me thinking Yes! It was a trip down memory lane coupled with the excitement of a new experience.

The seats were bigger than the norm – more like mini love seats that recline – and the floors weren’t sticky. I ate salmon instead of popcorn. And still, I got the same thrill of being in a movie theatre as I did as a girl. I loved every second of it.

Life’s Little Lovelies: When Grandma wants a family picture and has her camera at the ready, but Miller wants a family hug instead.

“Mommy, Daddy, snuggle me.”
