Human Highlights is a friendly reminder to forgive your human moments, to celebrate the highlights, and to enjoy life’s little lovelies in the interim.
Human Moment: Got some bedroom furniture delivered to the house Thursday afternoon – headboard, dresser, two nightstands. Spent a month picking out exactly the right pieces. Waited six weeks for delivery. Watched the guys carry it all in. Thought it looked great. Did a happy dance. In front of one of the dudes. No shame. Started refilling drawers later that evening. Realized the nightstands aren’t what I ordered.
Oh. My. Gosh.
Earth to Jamie.
(I was writing a blog post while the guys were trekking through the house…that’s how engrossed I get in my work. Lesson learned? Probably not. But I laughed about it a lot quicker than usual, so that’s a win. And, the correct nightstands will come…in another six weeks.)
Highlight: We joined some good friends at a high school basketball game Friday. I started babysitting their son, who is a junior in high school, when he was a brand-new babe. This is the third season I’ve taken my babe to watch him play.
This year, Miller said the buzzers were too loud and scared him, so we spent the entire game running the hallways instead. The one time we sat in the gym together (when this picture was taken) was during a buzzer-free halftime.
Life’s Little Lovelies: One of Miller’s Christmas presents came out of the box broken. We returned it to Bergner’s Wednesday and made a field trip out of it – rode the glass elevator, the escalators, and looked at the clocks in home goods. While there, this little heart caught my eye. It started black and white and came with markers to color it. Basically, it has my name written all over it.
I’ve been coloring it a little at a time the past several days. It gives me something to look forward to – like a really good book, or going to bed at night knowing a good cup of coffee awaits me first thing in the morning. As indicated, it certainly does make me joyful.
What are your Human Highlights from the week?
